HH The Ruler of Sharjah visits Aljada
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, visited this morning Aljada district in Sharjah city, which is being developed by Arada over a 24 million square foot area.
His Highness was welcomed on arrival by HH Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Arada; HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal, Vice Chairman of Arada; Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada, and Khalifa Al Shaibani, Board Director of Arada, alongside a number of other officials. During his visit HH The Ruler visited a number of key locations within the Aljada community, including the Shajar tree nursery and Nest student housing community.
The visit began with a tour at Shajar nursery and visit center, where Sheikh Dr Sultan listened to information about the services provided at the center, which houses several kinds of plants which will be planted across Arada’s developments. Shajar also raises awareness about the benefits of trees and it plays a role in promoting agriculture, as well as its contribution to matters related to biodiversity.
Sheikh Dr Sultan toured the Shajar tree nursery to learn about the kinds of trees and plants cultivated onsite, which accommodates over 130,000 trees, making it one of the largest nurseries in the UAE covering a 1.6 million square foot area.
During the tour, Sheikh Dr Sultan listened to detailed information on the modern techniques used in tree cultivation at the nursery, which includes 50 varieties, including the Ghaf and Acacia trees that are suitable for local climate. He was briefed on the process of farming, starting from seed germination to the maturity of the trees, learning about the educational activities provided by the nursery to visitors in the dedicated workshop area.
Then, Sheikh Dr Sultan watched a visual presentation highlighting the key projects by Arada in Sharjah, which cover various fields aligning with the development and priorities by the Emirate, to develop integrated fully serviced districts that consider sustainability and environmental conservation, as well as education, health, entertainment, community service, catering to different segments and age groups, and contributing to the economic growth of the emirate.
During the visit, Sheikh Dr Sultan learned about the different projects and facilities within Aljada, including the Madar entertainment zone, the Naseej cultural district, schools, retail areas, restaurants, cafes, and green spaces. He was also briefed on the infrastructure services that cater to the residents and visitors of the area, in addition to the aesthetic and architectural elements that reflect the direction of the Emirate of Sharjah in creating an advanced and integrated tourist environment.
Sheikh Dr Sultan also toured the Nest student housing complex, which incorporates residential units and services within 12 buildings and 2,400 units, and which takes into consideration the privacy of residents by separating for males and females student housing.
Sheikh Dr Sultan also learned about the facilities of the student housing complex, which provide an optimal study environment, in addition to the recreational areas including entertainment and music hall and gym. The outdoor spaces of the residential complex have been designed to offer residents a distinctive experience in terms of ease of movement and utilization of services and facilities, all while maintaining the highest standards of security and safety in the area.
